Founded in 1987, Nottingham Wind ensemble is made up of approximately 30 diverse players, who enjoy playing and performing a wide repertoire of music. Our ages and playing experience are varied, but we share a common ethos; to improve our musicianship by playing together in a friendly and supportive environment under Stewart Drummond, our conductor.

Nottingham Symphonic Winds was founded over 30 years ago, through the vision of Margaret Frogson MBE and David Oldershaw, the proprietors of Windblowers. They recognised the need for the opportunity for wind instrument players to perform in a friendly and encouraging environment and continue to support the group to this day.
At the heart of every performance is the desire to make music of the highest quality and use this as a vehicle to support local charities that have benefited to the tune of over £120,000. The Orchestra and smaller Ensemble play a variety of music, from well known orchestral classics, jazz, swing, musicals and modern pieces composed for this increasingly popular grouping of instruments.
